By accessing and using Retardify ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Retardify is an AI-powered document simplification service that transforms complex legal, medical, technical, and financial documents into plain English. The Service uses artificial intelligence models to process and simplify text while preserving factual accuracy.

3. User Accounts and Credits

3.1 Account Creation

To use the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3.2 Credit System

The Service operates on a credit-based system:

• Free users receive 10 credits per month
• Pro subscribers receive 1,000 credits/month ($10) or 15,000 credits/year ($100)
• Credits can be purchased in one-time packs starting at $4
• Each document simplification or follow-up question consumes 1 credit
• Unused Pro subscription credits roll over monthly
• Credit packs do not expire

3.3 Refund Policy

Due to computational costs of AI processing, credit purchases and subscriptions are generally non-refundable. Refunds may be granted at our sole discretion for technical errors or service outages.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

• Process documents containing illegal content or content violating third-party rights
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the AI models
• Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service
• Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
• Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Privacy and Data

Our Privacy Policy (at /privacy) explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. Key points:

• Documents are processed in-memory and not permanently stored
• Session history is stored locally in your browser only
• We collect minimal user data (email, usage statistics)
• We use third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google)

6. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

While we strive to preserve factual accuracy, AI models may occasionally produce errors or misinterpretations. You are responsible for verifying critical information.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

8. Modifications and Termination

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. We may also terminate or suspend your account for violating these Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration.
